What's my Why?
It all started in September of 2017 when my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. As a health and wellness advocate, breast cancer and the foreseeable treatments didn't sit well with me. I began my research and all roads led to carcinogenic ingredients in everyday products in my bathroom under my sink. I was disgusted, embarrassed and utterly shocked. I was slathering on chemicals that were marketed as deep moisturizers but were just causing me acne. I was dressing up my red lips to have a fuller lip and it was just leading to more dryness. I was using chemicals that I thought were supposed to smooth my skin and prevent wrinkles where they were actually encouraging more dangerous growths.
Then, before I could really grasp why the FDA would allow this (I would then come to learn they don't have the power over cosmetics), my friends reached out to me and again, she used that buzz word Beautycounter. It was kismet. It had to be. I purchased the Countermatch line, Flawless in Five and a Charcoal Bar. I fell in love and about 10 months later I took the opportunity to talk about my Why and get safer products into the hands of everyone I love.
